Entry Requirements
Academic Achievement
The American Honors program is highly competitive. In fact, admission rates are comparable to those of selective 4-year colleges and universities. While we take academic achievement into consideration, we look for highly motivated students who demonstrate community involvement, leadership, volunteerism, work history and extra-curricular activities. Our admissions process is holistic, considering students’ academic and non-academic achievements, as well as their aspirations.
Most students admitted to the program have the equivalent of a 3.25+ U.S. GPA and show a record of involvement. For guidelines of what a 3.25+ U.S. GPA may equate to in your home country, click here.
Students admitted to the program are expected to be college-ready in math and English by their first term. This can be demonstrated through high school GPA and coursework, Advanced Placement exam scores, International Baccalaureate scores, SAT scores, or ACT scores. Note that SAT or ACT scores are not required for international applicants.
English Language Proficiency
American Honors offers international students two different types of admission to the program; direct admission and English conditional admission.
Direct Admission
For direct admission to the American Honors program, proof of English language proficiency is required. Recommended target scores for international students are included below. If you have not yet taken an English proficiency exam, visit the links below to register.
