When you complete the OSSD at the DSBN, you will have a wide range of post-secondary options and may qualify for substantial scholarships from universities and colleges in Canada, the USA, and worldwide.

The District School Board of Ontario offers the following International Student Program options at

  • Placement in Secondary School for students seeking to obtain the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students will be in Grades 9-12 and typically aged 14 - 17 years. 

  • Placement in Elementary School for students seeking to attend Elementary School. Students will be in Grades K-8 and typically aged 4/5 to 13 years. Students younger than 10 years of age are expected to live with a parent in the Niagara Region due to the support they need at such a delicate, young age.

  • Placement in Elementary or Secondary School for a short term for a cultural or language experience.

Entry Requirements

Submit Application Form. Transcripts, and Application Fees All Together 

  • Complete the International Student Application Form for New Students online or as a PDF. Submit your completed application to the DSBN by June 15 (or late applications by Aug 1) for a Semester/Term 1 start or by December 15 for a Semester/Term 2 start.

  • Include a copy of your transcripts (school records) in English for the current and previous 2 years.

  • Non-refundable application/admin fee of CAD$250.

Tuition & Fees

Secondary School Fees (for students 14-17 years of age in grades 9-12/ full school year from September to June)

  • Tuition: CAD$ 13,000
  • Package fees (homestay, custodianship, airport transfer, insurance fees) CAD$ 9,500

Elementary School Fees (for students 4-13 years of age in kindergarten-grade 8/ full school year from September to June)

  • Tuition: CAD$ 12,000
  • Package fees (homestay, custodianship, airport transfer, insurance fees) CAD$ 9,500

Overview

The District School Board of Niagara is a school board in the public school system of Ontario, Canada, in the Regional Municipality of Niagara. Its head office is in St. Catharines. The DSBN operates schools in each of the twelve municipalities in the region. It employs close to 2,500 instructional staff to teach over 43,000 students in 97 elementary schools and 18 secondary schools. DSBN has recently implemented a new online campus, allowing students to take high school level courses online at their own pace.

Academics

The District School Board of Niagara has 18 secondary schools and 88 elementary schools. Each secondary school has a variety of curriculum and specialized facilities to provide courses at different levels in subject areas such as English, Mathematics, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Technological Studies, Fine and Performing Arts, and Physical and Health Education. All secondary schools offer ESL support
