Entry Requirements

  • To be considered for admission to NYIT, you must have satisfactorily completed high school (secondary school) with at least a B average or a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale.
  • SAT/ACT scores are not required for international students unless you are applying to the Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Nursing programs
  • You must receive a minimum score of 6.0 (IELTS), 79 (TOEFL IBT), or 53 (Pearson PTE) for full admission.
  • If you receive a score below 6.0 (5.0-5.5) on the IELTS, 79 on the TOEFL IBT (61-78), or 52 on the Pearson PTE (40-52), you may be required to study English as a second language before you can be fully matriculated.
  • M.B.A. applicants must meet English proficiency requirements by providing a minimum score of 6.0 (IELTS), 79 (TOEFL IBT), or 53 Pearson PTE). Successful completion of NYIT’s English Language Institute satisfies the English proficiency requirement to the M.B.A. program.

Overview

New York Institute of Technology (also known as NYIT) is a private, independent, nonprofit, non-sectarian, coeducational research university. Founded in 1910, NYIT adopted a European polytechnic university model and focuses on the instruction and research of technical arts and applied sciences.

Academics

NYIT has five schools and two colleges, all with an emphasis on technology and applied scientific research. NYIT offers 100 degree programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees, in 50 fields of study, including architecture and design; arts and sciences; education; engineering and computing sciences; health professions; management; and osteopathic medicine.
