About Yonsei University Mirae Campus

Yonsei University's campus in Wonju, Gangwon-do, established in 1978 and run with its own admissions office, about 1.5 hours from Seoul. Its Division of East Asian Studies teaches entirely in English; all other undergraduate majors are taught in Korean.

  • This is the WONJU campus, not the Sinchon campus in Seoul. It sits at 1 Yonseidae-gil, Wonju, Gangwon-do, about an hour and a half from Seoul, was established in 1978, and runs its own admissions office on +82-33-760-2828. The university's own page describes the Wonju campus as having 'its roots in Yonsei University'. If the Yonsei name is part of why you are applying, understand which campus you are applying to before you do.
  • The Division of East Asian Studies — the former EastAsia International College — teaches entirely in English, and it has TWO majors, not one: East Asian Economy and Business, and East Asian Politics and Culture. Students take humanities and social science foundations in the first two years and concentrate on the major in years three and four.
  • Students in that division also study an East Asian language — Chinese, Japanese or Korean — and can take part in Yonsei's exchange programmes, which run across the wider Yonsei network rather than the Wonju campus alone.
  • Every other undergraduate major at the Mirae campus is taught in Korean, so TOPIK is the deciding factor for anything outside the Division of East Asian Studies. Ask the admissions office for the current TOPIK level required for the specific department you want.
  • Yonsei runs a Korean Language Program at Mirae for applicants who need to build Korean before entering a degree, along with exchange, Global Village and visiting-student programmes.
  • Not verified and worth asking about directly: current tuition for the Mirae campus (the campus tuition page carries only an archived 2018 notice) and the English entry requirement for the Division of East Asian Studies. Write to ysmirae@yonsei.ac.kr.
  • VNIS holds no agreement covering this campus as of 16 September 2026. This listing exists so that families asking about Korea can see verified facts, not because VNIS represents the campus.

The address, the campus founding year, the separate admissions office and the Division of East Asian Studies information were read on mirae.yonsei.ac.kr and admission.yonsei.ac.kr/mirae on 16 September 2026. NOT VERIFIED: current tuition (the campus tuition page carries only an archived 2018 notice), the English entry requirement for the Division of East Asian Studies, and the TOPIK level by department. A CORRECTION TO WHAT THE PARTNER SUPPLIED: the briefing said only the Economics programme in the EastAsia International College is English-taught; in fact the whole division teaches in English and it has TWO majors. VNIS holds no agreement covering this campus. Accreditation is checkable at the Study in Korea (NIIED) portal. Tuition changes from year to year.
