The five documents every Vietnamese application needs

Most incomplete applications from Vietnam are missing the same handful of items. Naming them precisely, in Vietnamese, removes weeks from the process.

Applications from Vietnam stall for unglamorous reasons. The same five items account for most of it, and the fix is not chasing โ€” it is describing them precisely before anyone starts.

The five

  • Academic transcript, covering the full upper secondary period rather than the most recent year.
  • Proof of graduation, which in Vietnam is a separate document from the transcript and frequently forgotten.
  • English test result, in the form your institution accepts, with the validity window stated.
  • Passport, valid well beyond the intended course start โ€” families routinely submit passports expiring mid-course.
  • Financial evidence, in whatever form your admissions or the destination's immigration authority requires. This is the item with the most variation and the least guidance.

What makes the difference

Publish the list in Vietnamese, name each document as a Vietnamese family would name it, and say what form it must arrive in โ€” scan or original, translated or not, certified by whom. A list written in institutional English is a list an agent has to interpret, and interpretation is where errors enter.

One rule worth adopting

Separate the deadline for assessment documents from the deadline for originals. Conflating them is the single most common reason an admitted student loses a place.
