A Vietnamese social strategy assembled by replicating a domestic one produces activity and little else. The channels are used differently, and the differences are legible if you look at where in the decision each sits.

Roughly, what each does

  • Facebook remains the broad reach layer, and importantly the layer where parents are, not only students. Groups are where families compare notes, and where your institution is discussed without you.
  • Zalo is conversational and one-to-one. It is where a question gets answered, not where awareness is built.
  • TikTok and short video reach students early, before a shortlist exists. Useful for consideration, weak for conversion.
  • YouTube carries the long-form content families watch together โ€” campus tours, student interviews, cost explanations.

The mistake worth avoiding

Judging all four on the same metric. A channel whose job is early awareness will always look poor on enquiry attribution, and cutting it removes the top of the funnel that the converting channels depend on.

One thing worth doing first

Search your own institution's name in Vietnamese in a parent group and read what is already being said. It is usually more instructive than any analytics report, and it is free.
