The exam season: when Vietnamese families go quiet, and what to do with it

Every year, institutions watching Vietnamese enquiry volume see it drop and conclude that interest is falling. What they are usually watching is the national upper secondary examination.

What happens

In the run-up, Year 12 families narrow their focus to the examination. Counselling conversations pause, responses slow, and agents report the same. It is a scheduling phenomenon, not a demand signal.

The wrong response

Cutting spend or concluding the market has cooled. Both decisions get made on the basis of a dip that was always going to reverse, and both are expensive to undo.

What the window is good for

• Agent training. Counsellors have time, and they are about to be very busy.
• Content and translation. The work that never gets done when the pipeline is loud.
• Preparing the post-exam follow-up, which is where the quarter is actually won.
