How your institution is named in Vietnamese, and why it matters

If you have not decided how your institution's name is written and spoken in Vietnamese, several versions are already circulating, and search engines are treating them as different entities.

What tends to happen

• A literal translation, a transliteration, and the English name all in use simultaneously.
• Agents using their own abbreviations, which families then search for.
• A name that is accurate but unpronounceable, so nobody says it and nobody remembers it.

Why it costs you

Search traffic splits across variants, none of which you rank for reliably. A family who heard the name spoken cannot find it written. And an institution whose name is rendered three ways looks smaller than one rendered consistently.

What to decide, once

• The written form used in all Vietnamese material — usually the English name, with a Vietnamese descriptor rather than a translated name.
• A short form for conversation, chosen rather than inherited.
• The descriptor: public or private, and the country. Families sort by these before anything else.

Write it down, put it in the agent pack, and use it everywhere. It is a one-afternoon decision that compounds for years.
