Scholarship renewal terms families check before they accept

Institutions present scholarships as an entry-year figure. Families are budgeting a whole degree, and the unanswered question about later years is a live objection whether or not it is spoken.

What a family needs to know

• Does it renew? The single most important word in the whole paragraph.
• On what condition? A named GPA or credit threshold, not "satisfactory progress".
• What happens if it is missed once? Lost permanently, or recoverable — these are very different financial risks.
• Does it apply to all years, including placement or study-abroad years where fees differ?
• Can it be combined with other awards, and is there a cap?

Why silence costs more than a modest award

A family that cannot model years two to four will assume the worst case and compare on that basis. An award of moderate value with clear renewal terms frequently beats a larger one with none.
