Hanyang University's second campus, in Ansan inside the Seoul metropolitan area, built around an industry cluster - the name stands for Education Research Industry Cluster at Ansan. The degree is a Hanyang University degree, but admission is run separately from the Seoul campus and has its own deadlines, its own tuition table and its own scholarship scale.
- The name is not decoration: ERICA stands for Education Research Industry Cluster at Ansan, and the campus was laid out around a cluster of companies and research institutes rather than next to one. For engineering, computing and design students that changes what an internship looks like.
- Ten colleges, as the university lists them in English: Engineering Sciences, Computing, Pharmacy, Advanced Technology & Convergence, Languages & Cultures, Communication, Business & Economics, Design, Sport & Arts, and the LIONS College of Liberal Arts.
- The degree is a Hanyang University degree - the same university, the same name on the certificate. What differs is admission: Hanyang's own guidelines state that Seoul and ERICA are managed separately. You may apply to both, but if both accept you, you can register at only one.
- That separation is the single most common source of error when researching ERICA: tuition tables, scholarship scales and deadlines quoted for "Hanyang University" almost always describe the Seoul campus. Ask specifically for the ERICA guideline for your intake, and check the campus name on the cover of the file.
- Ansan sits in Gyeonggi-do, inside the Seoul metropolitan area rather than in central Seoul - so rent and day-to-day costs run below downtown while the same metropolitan job market remains in reach. The campus address is 55 Hanyangdeahak-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do 15588.
- The ERICA Summer School is taught entirely in English, which makes it a low-commitment way to see the campus and the city before committing to a four-year degree.
