A private university founded in 1949, with 25,573 undergraduates and 8,769 graduate students across 23 colleges and 88 departments on three campuses. Four departments teach in English - Management, Global Hospitality & Tourism Management, International Studies and Asian Studies - and their applicants need no TOPIK and sit no Korean test.

• Four departments are taught in English, and their applicants need no Korean at all: Management, Global Hospitality & Tourism Management, International Studies and Asian Studies. The bar is TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.0 or NEW TEPS 327 - or citizenship of, or a secondary education completed in, a country where English is official. English Track applicants are also exempt from the university's own Korean test.
• The Korean track has six accepted routes, not one: TOPIK level 3 or above (TOPIK iBT counts), Intermediate 2 at a Kyung Hee-affiliated language institute, level 3 of the KHU Korean Language Test, level 3 of the Korea Immigration and Integration Program, Intermediate 1 at a King Sejong Institute, or graduation from a Korean high school.
• One department is an outlier worth knowing about before you set your heart on it: Big Data Analytics in the College of Management requires TOPIK level 6, a class rank inside the top 10% of your high school, and a mathematics percentile of 90 or above across every year of high school.
• Tuition per semester, on the Fall 2026 basis: Humanities, Politics and Economics, Management, Foreign Language and Literature, and International Studies [English Track] KRW 4,977,400; Science, Human Ecology and Culinary Arts & Food Design Management KRW 5,785,400; Asian Studies [English Track] KRW 6,282,400; Global Business (transfer) KRW 6,375,400; Physical Education KRW 6,476,400; and KRW 6,718,400 for Global Hospitality & Tourism Management [English Track], Big Data Analytics, Future Information Display, the Department of Global Eminence and the Global Campus colleges of Engineering, Software Convergence, Electronics and Information, Applied Science, Life Science, Art and Design and Liberal Studies.
• The Department of Global Eminence on the Seoul campus is built for international students specifically: courses run exclusively for them, and from the second year a student holding TOPIK level 4 may choose almost any major on the Seoul campus regardless of division. Its Global Business major, also international-only, is open regardless of TOPIK level.
• Two intakes per semester, so missing one is not the end of the year. For spring 2027 the first ran 17-28 August 2026 with results on 23 October, and the second runs 26 October to 6 November 2026 with results on 24 December.
• From spring 2027 the assessment is 100% application review - no interview for most departments. Music, Fine Arts, Dance on the Seoul campus and Art and Design on the Global Campus are split 50% review and 50% practical test.
• Also from spring 2027, every required document must arrive by post: in-person submission is no longer accepted and the university states it is not responsible for documents arriving after the deadline. The application fee is KRW 180,000.
• Dormitory: a double room at Sewha-won on the Seoul campus costs KRW 1,290,000 for four months, paid in one instalment and with no cooking facilities; Woojungwon on the Global Campus is KRW 1,340,000 on the same terms.
• Three campuses, not one: Seoul in Dongdaemun-gu, the Global Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and Gwangneung. Which campus a department sits on decides your commute, your rent and your dormitory - check it against the department, not against the university name.
• Scale and reach, as the university reports for 2025: 25,573 undergraduates, 8,769 graduate students, 1,395 full-time faculty, 23 colleges, 88 departments, and 625 partner universities in 83 countries as of December 2025. It cites its own 2026 placings as 331st in QS World, 39th in QS Asia and 252nd in THE World.

Tuition & scholarships

Kyung Hee University sits in the Upper-mid tuition band. Tuition and scholarships change every year and by program, so VNIS provides the exact up-to-date figures for the program you choose during consultation. Nine admission scholarships, all decided during admission. The two that most applicants can plan for: Scholarship B waives the whole of the first semester's tuition for TOPIK level 6 on the Korean track, or TOEFL iBT 105 / IELTS 7.5 on the English track; Scholarship C waives half for TOPIK level 5. Scholarship A gives full first-semester tuition to the highest-scoring applicant in each college, with anyone below 90 points excluded whatever their rank. Top-50% applicants to Engineering, Electronics and Information, or Software Convergence receive half of the first semester (Scholarship G), and the same for the College of International Studies (H). Graduates of Kyung Hee's own KLC or IIE language programmes can be recommended by the Dean for full (D) or 30% (E). The new Global Eminence Scholarship runs half tuition for four years provided a GPA of 3.0 is maintained, and the Global SDGs scholarship covers the first semester in full with up to four years if its conditions are met..
