A private university in Seoul whose Korean-language rule works differently from most: admission is decided on academic record regardless of Korean level, and TOPIK 4 is needed to START the degree rather than to be admitted. Three departments - Data Science, Business Administration's Global Management Track and International Studies - are taught in English and need no Korean at all.
- The Korean-language rule is the part worth reading twice, because it is not how most Korean universities work. Hanyang states that acceptance is determined on academic ability regardless of whether the Korean requirement is met; TOPIK level 4 (or Hanyang IIE level 4) is required to BEGIN the degree. A student accepted without it takes a leave of absence, studies Korean until they meet it, then applies to re-enrol and starts. English Track applicants are exempt from the standard entirely.
- Three English Track departments for the 2027 spring intake, each with its own bar: Data Science needs TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0 and includes an English interview, and transfer applicants cannot apply; Business Administration's Global Management Track needs TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0, must be a first choice, and is also closed to transfers; International Studies needs TOEFL iBT 89 or IELTS 6.5 with an English interview.
- Tuition per semester, on the Fall 2026 basis the university publishes: Humanities and Social Science (which covers Business, Economics and Finance, International Studies and Policy Science) KRW 5,279,000; Natural Science and Sports KRW 6,150,000; Engineering KRW 6,960,000; Entertainment - Film & Theater and Dance - KRW 6,976,000; Music KRW 7,820,000.
- Seoul and ERICA are two separate admissions, and the rule is written down: you may apply to both, but if both accept you, you can register at only one. Within the Seoul campus you may also file a dual application - a first and a second choice - for KRW 142,000 plus KRW 27,000, against KRW 142,000 for a single application.
- The dual application is genuinely a second chance rather than a formality: first choices are evaluated first, and applicants who do not pass are then automatically considered for their second choice. If the first choice succeeds, the second application is rejected automatically and you register for the first.
- Two majors can only ever be a first choice, never a second: Business Administration - both the Korean and the English tracks - and Media & Communication. Listing either as a second choice makes that half of the application void.
- The bank balance certificate is required only of accepted applicants who go on to apply for a D-2 visa, after results are announced - not at application. That is a meaningful difference from universities that ask for proof of funds up front.
- The 2027 spring calendar, as published: online application 1-18 September 2026, documents by post until 30 September 2026 (in-person delivery is not accepted at all), results on 18 December 2026, tuition in January 2027 and the semester opening on 2 March 2027. Applications for the following intake open in the spring.

The document states that its tuition figures are the Fall 2026 rates and can change under university policy.
